Dopo un'attesa che è stata un’esplosione tutta rosa di previsioni e aspettative, fomentate dalle geniali operazioni marketing che hanno creato un hype che non si vedeva da anni, ecco il primo live action dedicato alla celeberrima serie di fashion doll della Mattel Barbie, lanciata sul mercato nel 1959. Diretto da Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird", 2017, "Piccole donne" 2019) vanta nei panni della bambola protagonista Margot Robbie, affiancata da Ryan Gosling nel ruolo di Ken, ma anche da Emma Mackey, America Ferrera e Will Ferrell... La colonna sonora è composta da Alexandre Desplat, già collaboratore di Greta Gerwig per il film "Piccole donne". Ambientato nel fantastico mondo di Barbieland, forte di una coppia di autori acuti e sofisticati, il film, scritto dalla Gerwig insieme al regista-compagno di vita Noah Baumbach (“Marriage Story”, “White Noise”), è più di una "operazione" nostalgia, ma anche una brillante riflessione sulla nostra società in chiave fluo e ultra-pop. Vivere nel fantastico mondo di Barbie Land significa dovere essere perfetti e Barbie sicuramente è l'emblema della perfezione. Poi, durante una festa, l'inimmaginabile: "Avete mai pensato di morire?". Una frase che cambia tutto... l'imperfezione, la paura, entrano nella bolla, i "talloni" non sono più sollevati, ai tacchi subentrano le ciabatte! E, allora, come fare? Come sistemare le cose? Sarà un viaggio nel mondo degli umani a dare le risposte...
